2025-2026 PRINCES

In the postcolonial Caribbean city, where cultural practices rooted in plantation life persist while being reshaped—or contested—by global flows of culture, technology, and capital, young people reclaim marginal spaces, transform them, and invest them as sites of expression. In Fort-de-France, on the parking lot of the Aliker stadium, young men practice cabrage, or rodeo: motorcycle stunts that have become rituals of affirmation, belonging, and solidarity.
Combining bling culture, acrobatic wheelies, and the restorative silence of nature, PRINCES unfolds as a poetic and performative project.
The film follows these young men through ritual gestures and a commemorative event in honor of Linster, aka “Louchy”, a friend and local biking legend who tragically passed away. Blurring the lines of documentary and fiction, the project explores the ways subcultures take shape at the margins of the postcolonial Caribbean city, opening onto questions of loss, remembrance, and community.
Far from clichés of imposed virility or violent marginality, the young men in the film radiate a contained strength, at times fragile, sometimes emotional. They emerge as figures of care, attention, or defiance, constantly negotiating their place in a world with constricted shores—yet within which they create bonds and collective ways of projecting themselves into the future.
