Loop vidéo, 16mm, 2min 05
In this video loop presented on a vintage TV, a hand gently brushes and reconstitutes the fragments of a conch shell on a concrete slab. The gesture, both delicate and repetitive, conjures the memory of an elsewhere against the rough surface of the present. Between Caribbean relic and urban landscape, the broken shell becomes a metaphor for uprooting and for the fragile bond between origin and territory.
This project has been produced as part of the Nationale Commission Les Regards du Grand Paris édition 7 from Ateliers Medicis and is part of the collections of Centre National des Art Plastiques (CNAP).
Dans cette boucle vidéo présentée sur TV cathodique, une main effleure et reconstitue doucement les fragments d’une conque de lambi sur une dalle en béton. Le geste, à la fois délicat et répétitif, fait surgir la mémoire d’un ailleurs contre la surface rugueuse du présent. Entre vestige caribéen et paysage urbain, le coquillage brisé devient métaphore du déracinement et du lien ténu entre origine et territoire.
Ce projet a été produit dans le cadre de la Commande Nationale Les Regards du Grand Paris édition 7, portée par les Ateliers Medicis, et fait partie des collections du Centre National des Art Plastiques (CNAP).
